Ethics
QUAERENS: Journal of Theology and Christianity Studies is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct in the publication of theological and Christian ministry research. The journal adheres to the guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and other relevant organizations to ensure the integrity and validity of the published research. We expect all authors, reviewers, and editors to follow these ethical standards, which include avoiding research misconduct, plagiarism, and conflicts of interest. QUAERENS also requires authors to obtain informed consent from human subjects and to protect the confidentiality and privacy of their research subjects.
The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) is a leading organization dedicated to promoting ethical practices in academic publishing. Some of the key guidelines established by COPE for authors, reviewers, and editors include:
-
Research Integrity: All research must be conducted ethically and transparently, with a focus on academic rigor and reproducibility. Fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism are unacceptable and may result in the retraction of published articles.
-
Authorship and Contributorship: Authors should be appropriately acknowledged for their contributions. All listed authors should have actively participated in the research and reviewed and approved the final manuscript for publication.
-
Conflicts of Interest: Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may influence the research or its publication, including financial, personal, or institutional affiliations.
-
Peer Review: The peer review process should be fair, transparent, and based on academic merit. Reviewers are expected to provide constructive feedback and avoid personal or biased comments.
-
Data and Reproducibility: Authors should provide access to the data and methods used in their research to enable transparency and reproducibility.
-
Publication Ethics: Journals and publishers should establish clear policies for ethical conduct, including procedures for handling allegations of misconduct or ethical breaches.
QUAERENS promotes transparency, fairness, and academic rigor throughout the publication process by adhering to COPE's guidelines and maintaining ethical standards in all aspects of its operations.
