Abstract

This article addresses the persistent gap between contextual theological theory and praxis in Christian Religious Education, particularly regarding economic empowerment and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) integration. The purpose is to formulate a contextual theonomy model that bridges spirituality and economic reality within theological higher education. The study employs qualitative interpretive theological research using in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentary analysis at purposively selected theological institutions. The findings reveal that SDG integration remains sporadic, institutional capacity is limited, and no operational economic theology model exists. The reconstruction of contextual theonomy emerges as an integrative-transformative novelty connecting theology, economics, and sustainable development through three interconnected dimensions: theological foundation, contextual analysis, and transformative praxis. The study concludes that contextual theonomy enables theological education to move beyond normative-spiritualistic approaches toward impactful socio-economic praxis.
